National Science Museum (NSM), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation has arranged its NSM Science Caravan for holiday break at Nuea Khlong Pracha Bamrung School, Krabi Province, with full fun activities and knowledge to raise an inspiration of amazing science discovery. NSM has closed its first season of the caravan here and will keep on its mission to extend learning opportunity in May or the next semester.

Dr. Danuch Tanterdtid, secretary to Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI) has presided over the NSM Science Caravan on February 21, 2023 at Nuea Khlong Pracha Bamrung School, Krabi Province. Mr.Suwarong Wongsiri, NSM vice president, Mr.Thatchawech Chansuksi, director of the educational service area office, Trang, Krabi and Mrs. Wandee Ketkaew, director, Nuea Khlong Pracha Bamrung School have also attended in the ceremony.

Dr. Danuch said that MHESI has highly promoted activities related science, technology, and innovation (STI) to develop potentials of the Thai youth, through encouraging them with STI learning for better quality of life and wealth creation of the country. The Science Caravan held by NSM has motivated our youth to have changes, inspire them to get more knowledge for their skill development, creative scientific thinking and further advanced studying which will be transformed to be future technology.

He said that the Science Caravan in Krabi has been held under a cooperation of National Research Council of Thailand (presenting exhibitions of “ Natural Rubber, Thermoplastic 3D Printing for Forensic Science” and “KIT for Sponge Rubber for Learning Processing Rubber Products from Natural Rubber Latex”) and National Innovation Agency (presenting STEAM4INNOVATOR to show 4 steps of cultivating innovators and Innovation Potential Development Plan for Thai Youth in order to cultivate them to be innovators), WalaiLLak University (presenting astronomy activities) and Office of Atomic for Peace (presenting fun games of nuclear and radiation).

Mr.Suwarong said “NSM’s mission is to support STI learning through arranging exhibitions and activities for the Thai youth nationwide. To date, NSM has realized the least opportunity of some youth groups in accessing learning resources, It has therefore offered “NSM Science Caravan” since 2005, to travel and offer services to other outreach areas of Thailand with more 6.6 million audiences. For the first season in this semester, NSM arranged its Science Caravan in 11 provinces across the country as the following provinces: Lopburi, Chainat, Nan, Chiang Rai, Phetchaburi, Roi Et, Nakhon Ratchasima, Rayong, Chonburi, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Krabi is the latest place of this semester, with 250,000 students joining the event. NSM will keep on arranging the caravan for the outreach students, teachers, and parents to get amazing experience from experiments to find answers by themselves, and bring knowledge to apply in daily life. The STI knowledge will help them to understand and develop themselves to be qualified citizens of the Thai society in the future.”

The NSM Science Caravan, has not only offered its service locally, but it also extends learning resources to other ASIAN countries, for example, the NSM Science Caravan at Vientiane, Laos People’s Democratic Republic, February 14-17, 2022 and at Phanom Penh, Kingdom of Cambodia, March 26-28, 2023.  The details of Science Caravan are shown on Facebook: NSM Science Caravan or at www.nsm.or.th
