“Small Mammal Taxidermy” Workshop to Leverage Skills and Professions by NSM

Mr.Suwarong Wongsiri, vice president of National Science Museum (NSM) has opened a workshop on “Small Mammal Taxidermy” held by NSM, on March 19, 2025 at IT Auditorium, NSM It Museum, Klong 5, Klong Luang, Pathum Thani province. The workshop scheduled during March 19-21, will transfer knowledge of animal taxidermy to public and young taxidermists, and create networks of collaboration on taxidermy in Thailand. Mr.Watchara Sanguansombat, director, NSM Center of Natural Science and Stuffed Specimens Management and Conservation, has conducted a lecture in the courses.

Speaking in the opening ceremony, Mr.Suwarong said “NSM”s missions are to transfer knowledge and create a public awareness of science towards the Thai society. We have also investigated research and study in specimens, including collecting and preserving specimen references for displays in exhibitions related to natural history in Thailand. According to NSM researchers’ experience and know-how, a workshop of animal taxidermy has been developed and ready to transfer to public with intensive practices and our expertise. We expect that the participants will gain knowledge and skills to apply in their works or career”

The workshop consisted of 3 days intensive theories and practices will pave from a basic of small mammal taxidermy, techniques of preparing samples, making models, shaping, decorating, properly maintain stuffed animal samples to further applying knowledge and creating quality works.
