The 17th Thai Science Camp: A Platform for Exchanging Views of Science and Inspiring Future Learning

The 17th Thai Science Camp was held during March 30-April 2,2025 by National Science Museum (NSM) at NSM, Klong 5, Klong Luang, Pathum Thani province, in connection with the Science Society of Thailand Under the Patronage of the King (SCISOC) and Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC). The objective was to develop skills, scientific thinking of youth, bring them to work closely with leading scientists of Thailand, and encourage them to have an inspiration of further expanding knowledge for future development.

Asst.Prof.Dr. Rawin Raviwongse, President of NSM said “NSM, SCISOC and OBEC has held the 17th Thai Science camp” for youth in high school who is passionate about science, to join in activities designed for making their ecstatic inspiration in real scientific learning. The camp has been included in Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation’s policy to increase more scientific skills and learning for driving socio-economy of this country.  In this platform, the youth has been trained to exchange views in a seminar with senior research scientists, for examples, Prof.Dr. Vatcharin Rukachaisirikul, Center of Excellence for Innovation in Chemistry (PERCH-CIC), Prince of Songkhla University, Prof.Dr.Poramate Manoonpong, Information Science and Technology (IST, VISTEC). Those senior researchers have shared their inspiration to the youth about future success of scientific thinking and advanced aspects for doing scientific and technological research in Thailand.”

Assoc.Prof.Dr.Thanuttkhul Mongkolaussavarat, President of SCISOC said “The Thai Science Camp was initiated by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn since she foresaw in creating more platforms for the Thai youth to participate in science activities, and inspiring them with role models for understanding in R&D activities. The youth can learn from the perspectives of successful scientists to apply with their learning and scientific ideas. Therefore, the camp held by SCISOC has trained the participants about team working with thinking process, data analysis, presentation, and discussion. The objective is to prepare them for entering international platform in the future.”

Dr. Chotiman Nuprik, Deputy Director, the Office of Academic Affairs and Educational Standards, acting for curriculum and learning development specialist, OBEC said “The Science Camp activities are also responded to Ministry of Education ‘s policy in leveraging educational qualities, especially in science, technology, and innovation. It has been a platform for the youth to exchange views with leading scientists in this country with thinking processes, making questions, experiment design, team working, communication and application in daily lives and country development.”
