NSM Partners with The Street Ratchada to Launch “the 5th Science Square Festival”

National Science Museum (NSM) joined hands with the Street Ratchada Lifestyle Mall, Bangkok, to organize “the 5th Science Square Festival” during the Songkran Festival, April 10-16, 2026, 10:00 a.m.-07:00 p.m. The festival offered children and youth on an adventure with a theme “Mission Res-Q” or “trainee hero mission: survive the crisis”. The visitors learned and achieved challenging, fun and creative missions related science, technology and innovation activities.

Mr.Suwarong Wongsiri, Acting President of NSM said “during the Songkran holidays, NSM has invited youth group, people, parents and people to join and experience in “Science Square Festival” held consecutively the 5th year at the Street Ratchada. The festival aims to create a learning experience that combines fun, creativity and imagination through hands-on activities in science, technology and innovation. The event offers another option for families to spend quality time together, transform long holidays into opportunities for creative learning while truly promoting and fostering an interest in science among youth and the public.  The festival’s theme will let the children to embark on a survival adventure in present environment, learn to cope with emergencies around them, and enhance their analytical thinking on problem-solving and mindful decision-making skills that can be applied in real life.”

The 7 highlight challenging learning bases designed for interactive experience of survival skills and emergencies response are:

-Base 1: Shake &Survive-simulation of earthquake and create safe map keychain from shrink plastic. Enjoy activities that simulate real-life situations, practice survival skills from earthquake, scan for risk points, safety points and be aware of dangerous areas of your home.

-Base 2: Flood & Float-float to survive, plan to survive during a flood crisis. Become a hero and explore a simulation of flood ball pit, searching for essential items and observing hidden dangers under water. Practice using whistle codes to signal for help, learn techniques of safe for survival in real situations, and create your own whistle keychain to take home. 
Base 3: Venom & Venture-unlocking the secrets of venomous creatures around you. Join in tracking down and getting to know the snakes and venomous animals near you. Learn to deal with those animals, and stand a chance to win various animal-themed souvenirs.

-Base 4: Search & Safe-miniature robot rescue mission, learn to control your truly robot to navigate obstacles. Find the keys at crime scene, and safely rescue a small pet toy. Take your little friend back home to care of it.
-Base 5: Pack & Prepare-get ready to transform from “victim’ to survivor” with just one bag that can change your life. This isn’t just about packing, but it’s about curating items to make you become a survivor, and get a flashlight back home as a souvenir.

-Base 6: Dust & Defense-don’t take the dust lightly! have fun and experience the thrill of challenging random location of missions that will put you through various dust and pollution situations. Check real-time AQI levels to plan how to protect yourself and your companions. Plus, we encourage you to plant air-purifying plants indoors.

-Base 7: Flame & Flee-hot and smoke, escape in time! Practice escaping fire and smoke with a realistic vehicles’ simulator and many other fun and rescue missions. 


In addition, the event was packed with activity booths from partner organizations, offering a variety of educational and fun activities. These included iMake Innovation, showcasing robotic technology for emergency situations. The Metrological Department provided information on disaster situations. Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and the Sri Savarindira Institute of Nursing, the Thai Red Cross Society give a practice about survival skills in various situations. The JIA Trainer Center also offers basic first aid training activities.
