Asst.Prof.Dr.Rawin Rawivongse, director of National Science museum (NSM) and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Thanatkun Mongkol Asawarat, president, the Science Society of Thailand under the Patronage of HM. the King (SST) and committee members of National Science and Technology Development said on April 25th at Rama 9 museum, Klong 5, Pathum Thani, they are ready to send 9 Thai youth teams to join in the Regeneron International Science and Technology Fair (ISEF) held in Los Angeles, California, USA. The ISEF to be held in May 11-17, 2024 is a global challenging science and engineering project competition for talented young scientists from 75 countries.
Dr.Rawin said the Regeneron ISEF 2024 is a platform bringing together young scientists from over 75 countries to compete and exchange knowledge in science and technology. From the past 10 years, NSM and SST have driven our youth to the Regeneron ISEF competition. So far, the Thai youth teams have been able to continuously win big awards with their outstanding and unique performance. As last year, they could build a reputation for the country by winning the Regeneron Young Scientist Award along with winning the first place of Grand Awards in animal science. Moreover, they also won 8 other awards. They totally could win 10 global awards.
He said Ms.Supamas Isaraphakdi, minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation also gave her encouragement to the 9 Thai youth teams dedicating their best for the competition. She felt confident that the Thai teams are as talented as other nations, and will be able to show their potential to be evident on the world stage to bring fame back home.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Thanatkun said “the selected 9 teams representing Thai youth this year have their interesting works reflecting perspectives and creativity incorporating science, technology, and innovation to solve problems appropriately. The 9 selected teams are 2 teams from Kamnoetwit School, Rayoung, 2 teams from Bangkok Christian College, 2 teams from Prince Royal College, Chiang Mai, 2 teams from Chulabhorn Rajavidyalaya School, Pathum Thani, Huai So Witthayakhom Ratchamangalaphisek School, Chiang Rai, and Damrongrat Songkroch School, Chiang Rai. The 8 teams were selected from the 19th National Young Scientist Forum Competition, 8 teams and 1 team from the 23rd Thailand Innovation Award Competition in 2023. We would like to encourage every young team to do their best, and expect the project developed by them will win awards successfully.”
