NSM Ignites Imaginative Youth to Kick Off 2025 Science Project Preventing Drug Abuse

Asst.Prof. Dr. Rawin Rawivongse, president of National Science Museum (NSM) presided over a science project on “Drug Prevention 2025”, on March 4, 2025 at Children and Youth Training Center, Chiang Mai province. Ms.Nalinnat Krainara, deputy director-general, Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection and Mr.Chatthichai Rodsuith, director of Chiang Mai Children and Youth Training Center welcomed and joined the ceremony. Mr. Suwarong Wongsiri, NSM vice president also joined in.

Dr.Rawin said “NSM’s mission is to enhance and awake the Thai society to be aware and make use of science for country development as well as nurturing and transferring knowledge of science, technology and innovation to youth and the public through arranging scientific exhibitions and activities. The aim is to create an inspiration and imagination among them with amusing and amazing discovery of science. NSM has also taken responsible for supplying extra- curricular activities towards the outreach youth groups living in other regions of this country.”

“The science project on “Drug Prevention 2025” held by NSM in Chiang Mai accompanying with science caravan, therefore aims the youth to experience a variety of amazing and amusing science. They can eventually get and apply knowledge in their daily life and for their communities. The project is also relevant to a policy initiated by Minister of Higher Education, Science and Research and Innovation; Ms.Supamas Isarapukd in promoting life-long learning and equitable education participation among all walks of life.”

Ms.Nalinnat Krainara said “Dept of Juvenile Observation and Protection has put and increased more engagements, caring, correcting and reactivating towards the children and youth groups. We are ready to support any activities which will foster or inspire the children and youth, and bring them to experience in fun science and technology learning. I expect that the extra- curricular activities arranged by NSM will stimulate them to learn more science and further use them to improve their quality of lives.”

Mr.Chatthichai Rodsuith said “Chiang Mai Children and Youth Training Center has emphasized to correct, treat and rehabilitate our children and youth in custody, and enable them to return to society effectively. In doing so, we need a collaboration from every sector in the society. Fortunately, in 2025, we have a collaboration from NSM to arrange the science project on “Drug Prevention”. The exhibitions of the project have encouraged our children and youth to get more experience and knowledge on science, technology, and innovation with creativity. Consequently, our children and youth can improve their scientific thinking process which it helps to prepare them to return to the society effectively.”
